Configuring LDAP for EDM

LDAP is the method by which an application communicates with an Active Directory (AD) database in order to validate existing/active accounts and read helpful data fields from AD (e.g.: first & last names, phone number, email address) in order to synchronize that information directly into the application for quick reference.

Overview

LDAP is the method by which an application communicates with an Active Directory (AD) database in order to validate existing/active accounts and read helpful data fields from AD (e.g.: first & last names, phone number, email address) in order to synchronize that information directly into the application for quick reference.

The EDM Server allows for a more seamless login authentication through its ability to communicate with an AD via LDAP. The implementation is much clearer once an Administrator of the EDM Server is shown a few of the not-so-intuitive ins and outs, especially if they can gain access to use an AD viewing tool.
